Stair climbing is a great way to start losing weight and keeping those extra kilos off our body.
Use the stairs instead of using lifts/elevators or escalators.
Benefits of climbing up the staircase :
- Stairs are easily available and free of cost.
- Stair climbing raises heart beat faster and keeps it sustained guaranteeing aerobic benefits.
- Our body moves against gravity => more workout => more calories burnt => weight loss
- It tones the lower body and strengthens the core.
- Can be done at any time.

- Once you are accustomed to climbing stairs easily, try doing it for 10 minutes straight and watch all the flab disappear.
- We can always challenge ourselves by increasing time and speed.
Precautions to be taken :
- Always consult your health adviser before starting any new exercise programme.
- Follow the proper technique in order to not hurt yourself.
- Stay well hydrated.
- Always listen to your body and do not rush to climb too many stairs on day one. Give the body as much time as it needs to cope up with any new activity.
- Never run down the stairs as it may result in unwanted injuries further delaying your weight loss goals.
- Wear proper footwear and exercise in a well lit area.
